Privacy policy
Version 2026-11
Draft awaiting legal review. The final text may change before Baittuna opens to the public.
Baittuna is a property platform for Erbil and Kirkuk. It connects people looking for a home with real-estate offices and agents. This policy explains what we collect when you use the Baittuna app, this website and the office dashboard, why we collect it, who can see it, and the choices you have.
1. What we collect
- How you sign in: if you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an identifier for your account, your name if you choose to share it, and an email address (Apple can give us a private relay address instead of your real one). If you sign in with your phone number, we keep that number.
- Your profile: your name if you add one, your language and your city.
- What we keep for you in the app: saved properties and searches, alerts, properties you viewed recently, visit requests, the messages and photos you send to offices, and reports you file.
- The assistant: what you type or say to the Baittuna assistant. Usually your speech is turned into text on your phone, and we receive only the text. If you choose live voice, your voice goes straight to our AI provider while you talk, so the assistant can answer out loud; we receive the written transcript, never a recording of your voice.
- Photos for a price estimate or a sign: when you ask what your home is worth or scan a "for sale" sign, the photos you take are kept with that estimate or scan so you can see it again. If you publish your property, its listing photos are public.
- Your location, only during Walk with me: while you use Walk with me, the app sends your current position so the assistant can tell you about homes around you. It is used for that conversation only; we do not keep a history of where you were.
- Your devices: a device name and type, so you can see your devices and sign them out, and a notification token if you allow notifications.
- Technical records: the internet address, time and errors of requests, used to keep the service secure and working.
We do not ask for your contacts, we use your location only while Walk with me is on, and we see only the photos you choose to send or take in the app.
2. How we use it
- To provide the service: sign-in, search, messages, visit requests and the notifications you choose.
- To keep Baittuna safe: preventing fraud, spam and misuse, and reviewing reports.
- To improve Baittuna, using totals and trends rather than following individual people.
We do not sell your data, and we do not show you advertising from other companies.
3. What offices see
An office sees your name, and your phone number if your account has one, only when you contact it: when you send a message, request a visit, or tap Call or WhatsApp on one of its listings. It also sees what you sent and which listing it was about. Offices may use your details only to answer you about that property (see the office policies). Other customers never see your details.
4. Photos you send
Photos you send in a conversation are saved again without location or camera details. Only you and the office in that conversation can open them. Baittuna staff can open them only while reviewing a report, and every such access is recorded. Photos that offices publish on listings are public, and location details are removed from them too.
5. Who else handles your data
- Apple and Google, when you choose to sign in with them.
- Google Firebase, to deliver notifications to your phone.
- Google (Gemini), for live voice: your voice and the conversation while you talk, and your position during Walk with me.
- Ollama, which runs the AI model that reads the photos you take for a price estimate or of a "for sale" sign.
- An SMS provider, when sign-in by phone code or SMS notifications are in use.
- Our hosting provider, which stores the service's data.
These providers may use your data only to provide their service to Baittuna, not for their own purposes.
We share data with authorities only when the law in force in Iraq or the Kurdistan Region requires it.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account data stays while you have an account.
- The text of assistant conversations is kept for 90 days after the last message, then deleted. We keep only counts, such as the number of conversations.
- Photos you picked but did not send are deleted after one day.
- Technical records are kept only as long as security and fixing problems require.
7. Deleting your account
In the app, open Account and choose Delete my account. You have 30 days to change your mind. After that your account is erased: your phone number and Apple or Google sign-in, your name, saved properties and searches, viewing history, devices, notifications, the photos you sent or took for price estimates and sign scans, and what you told the assistant are deleted. Records an office must keep, such as the text of the messages you exchanged, visit and lead records and contracts, remain, but they are no longer linked to your name or phone number. Without the app, write to us at the support email or WhatsApp number on this page, from the phone number or the Apple or Google email of your account, and ask us to delete it. We confirm with you, then delete it in the same way.
8. Your choices
- Change your name, language and city in Account.
- Choose which notifications reach your phone, and whether they also come by SMS.
- See the devices signed in to your account and sign them out.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, using the contact details below.
9. Security
Connections to Baittuna are encrypted. Your sign-in keys are kept in your phone's secure storage. Our backups are encrypted, and staff access is limited by role and recorded.
10. Children
Baittuna is meant for adults. Please do not use it if you are under 18.
11. Changes
When we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change applies. The version at the top shows which text is in force.
